Jamie Litton-Lanfranco, PLA

Founder / Landscape Architect

My fascination with California’s landscapes began in childhood, on family road trips exploring the state’s incredible ecological diversity. That curiosity grew into a passion for designing outdoor spaces that tell stories, inspire, and connect people to the natural world.

I earned my Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and went on to practice in San Francisco and Los Angeles, contributing to residential gardens, estates, historic landscapes, and urban design projects.

During this time, I witnessed firsthand how climate change and ecological pressures were reshaping familiar landscapes, which inspired me to expand my expertise in sustainability and climate-responsive design.

This commitment led me to Scotland, where I earned a Master of Science in Architecture, Landscape, and Environment from the University of Edinburgh, graduating with Distinction.

My studies focused on situated research methods utilizing concepts from the environmental humanities and cultural landscapes, which strengthened my belief that widely accessible, climate-conscious design is key to responding to our rapidly changing world.

Today, I bring together a strong academic foundation, hands-on professional experience, and a passion for education to guide projects that are beautiful, resilient, and meaningful.

At POPPY Landscape Architecture, I strive to create spaces that feel personal, enduring, and connected to the unique conditions of each site.
